The unique colouristic possibilities of the piano are revealed in all their glory. Väinö Raitio's scintillating colour poems and Rautavaara's exuberant Fiddlers and experimental music for upright piano are heard alongside Liszt's hauntingly beautiful late piano pieces. The concert culminates in Ravel's evocative masterpiece Miroirs. Tiina Myllärinen's new solo work for piano solo also receives its first performance.
